*Disclaimer*: This is a work of fiction. Some events may be based on real life, but some events are made up.           As Clara was struggling on what to say, Isabella was tapping her foot impatiently, and Mingmei was looking miserable and crying softly, Nabal was still searching for a way out. A way out of his stupid prison because once he was out, he could start his new mission. One bad move could get him killed, but this was just a stepping stone to his lifelong dream! Isabella I held my breath. Clara sighed and said, “I won’t do that, but I’ll make a different deal.” I bit my lip. Was Clara abandoning me?  “What?” I asked, with bitterness in my voice. Asking couldn’t hurt, right? Besides, it’s not like anybody cares about me anyways. Even Clara likes Mingmei better. I have to admit, even Cecilia sometimes seems better than my family right now, and she’s basically my bitter enemy. Because before w...

*Disclaimer*: This is a work of fiction. Some events may be based on real life, but some events are made up.           God save Cora, please, please, if nothing else please save her, I prayed. Suddenly I heard a thunk coming from the top of my helicopter. “Helicopter, let the thing on the roof come in.”, I ordered. Suddenly, Cora popped in. I was surprised. “Cora! How did you get to the roof of my helicopter?” I asked her. “Well,” Cora said, “When I went up to avoid the helicopters, a radio in my helicopter came to life and a voice said, ‘Code Yellow. Report that someone snuck into the dungeon to Code Black and Code Blue’. I didn’t know what to do, so I just walked out of my helicopter and jumped onto yours.” I nodded, but I was a little annoyed. Someone could have seen Cora and what would they do? “Umm, okay.” I said, “Did anyone see you?” Cora scrunched up her nose, wiggled it, and then did a funny hula dance. Finally, she started racing around...

Ruby VS. R.E.D.

Ruby VS. R.E.D. A Modern Tale               “Ruby?” I looked up from my homework to see my mom hovering above me. Sensing that she got my attention, she said, “Can you go drop off some stuff to Clarissa?” Clarissa is my oldest sister and she’s pregnant, so she can’t do much. Besides, her tummy’s so big that she probably couldn’t move very well in her tiny apartment. She lives across the town in a different apartment building. Thankfully, here in New York City, we have subways. My parents have just started letting me go by myself since I turned eight last month.    There’s just a fun excitement of being on the subw...

*Disclaimer*: This is a work of fiction. Some events may be based on real life, but some events are made up.                    Clang! The prison door shut behind him. He slumped down and remembered the words of his partner in crime, "Find a way out, Nabal. Find a way out." He started searching. There was a window high up, but he couldn't reach it, besides, it was way too small for him to fit in, anyways. Nabal sighed, why had he become friends with the Lee family? One of the kids, Mingmei, had gotten him into this mess. He clenched his hands into fists. The Lee family would definitely pay, especially the good for nothing Mingmei. Little did he know, that Mingmei was already having enough troubles of her own. Mingmei                The plane landed in San Jose, Oregon. Isabella headed first, her face hardened and determined, her chin high. I was sobbing in Ye Ye’s lap, with Ye Ye ...

*Disclaimer*: This is a work of fiction. Some events may be based on real life, but some events are made up. Isabella, Mingmei and I were taking showers. Besides the 20 showers, there was also an individual shower in the bathroom that was in each bedroom. Well actually, there were three showers because you put two shower curtains in between the big and spacious shower and make it into three normal showers. That was where Isabella, Mingmei, and I were taking our showers.  After a few minutes, Mingmei stepped out of the shower. “How are you already done? We all literally just go in. I literally only just finished rinsing the shampoo out of my hair. I still have to put the conditioner on. You guys know how it takes forever for me to get all those annoying knots out of my hair.” I said  Mingmei. Mingmei smiled, rolled her eyes, and laughed. “First of all,” she said, “I have really short hair, and second of all, you were so busy smelling the blueberry shampoo. And third ...

*Disclaimer*: This is a work of fiction. Some events may be based on real life, but some events are made up. It wasn’t a hard task, changing the looks of the helicopter. All I had to say was, “Helicopter, helicopter, oh so high, change to match the color of the sky!” Well, I didn’t have to say that, I could have grumpily murmured, “Helicopter, blend into the surroundings on my command, which is Right Now!” But I secretly liked the silly moments of life, they were like little treasures stored away deep inside the oblivion that was my brain, stored inside a buried locked chest full of those precious little jeweled memories.  So, as I pushed away my fears, I chanted my silly little poem, and soon the helicopter’s windows disappeared, replaced with a dreamy sky blue, and cottony clouds. The shafts of light coming out were my only source of the world beyond. “Helicopter, helicopter, on my command,” I began. “Let me see out to thee, but so thee may not see me.” I know that sound...
