Animal of the Week: Owl

These owls were drawn by my dad and I when I was 6 ears old.   Fast Facts: Did you know that owls can see a night? It's called nocturnal. They sleep in the day time and are quite active in the night.  That's how they catch their prey. (animals that they eat) They catch them at night, when rodents and other animals are asleep. There are many different kinds of owls. There are Barn Owls, Snowy Owls, Great Horned Owls, Long-Eared Owls and Short-Eared Owls to name a few. Owls also mainly eat mammals, birds, insects and fish. Eagles eat owls.   Owl Poem: Fluttering without a sound,  To the right and left, And gently landing downward! Owl Jokes:  Q: What kind of owl loves snow? A: A Snowy Owl. Animal of the Week: Giant Panda

This is a drawing of a panda that was drawn by Mei Makes. Fast Facts:      A giant panda is bear that is black and white. It lives in a few mountain ranges in south central China, mainly in Sichuan province, but also in the Shaanxi and Gansu provinces.  99% of a giant panda's diet is bamboo. Giant panda adults can eat 12-38 kilograms of bamboo in one day! That means they can eat up to 266 kilograms of bamboo in a week. They occasionally eat other grasses, wild tubers, or even meat in the form birds, rodents or carrion. Did you know that newborn baby pandas are pink and often as small as a hotdog. Giant pandas do certainly live up to their name. They can be 4-6 feet tall, which as tall as many adult humans. They sleep for about ten hours a day. Female pandas can weigh 150-220 pounds and average males weigh 220-254 pounds. Bamboo is high in fiber but doesn't have that much nutrients. Animal of Week: Chickens

Fast Facts:  Chickens are a relatively common backyard pet. Many people that don't like to have pets in their home like to have chickens, since they are an outdoor pet. Chickens are more than just than outdoor pet though, they can be very helpful as well. They can help you by providing eggs, incubating chicken eggs (or other bird eggs), eating pests, providing feathers, and providing fertilizer. Many backyard gardeners are adding chickens to their collections, so the they can have fresh eggs during the Covid-19 era. Don't think that taking care of chickens is all a walk in the park though, since there can be many disadvantages. Some of these include lots of poop, attracting flies, loud sounds, possible alarm in the morning, a lot of work, they take up a lot room, eat up your garden, and can get in your way. Animal of the Week: Ducks

Fast Facts:     Did you that not all ducks live in ponds? Some people have ducks as pets. Having ducks as pets have been more common during Covid-19. You probably know that a lot of people don't have a pond, so they get the kind of ducks that don't have to live in water. If you were wondering, they are still good at swimming. If you would like to have ducks, but you don't have a pond, that is still okay. These special ducks are called Runner Ducks. Just like their name, they can run very fast.  Some pros of having ducks are that they can eat some of your pests, lay eggs, help you mow the grass in a small area, make really good fertilizer, leave nice warm feathers for stuffing, can have ducklings, and work as a nice alarm for when guests come to your house. Some cons of having ducks are they are smelly, poop everywhere, attract a lot of flies, are loud, need to fed and watered daily, can wake you up, can cost a lot of money to maintain, and may bully your chickens.
