Elsie Dinsmore
What is your overall impression of the book?
Elsie Dinsmore by Martha Finley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I think it is very good. I like how Elsie is very obedient and doesn't tell on people, even if she knows they purposely tried or did hurt her. She also is very kind even to the people who are mean to her. The book tells all the good and the bad in her childhood. It's just like normal human life. Another good thing about her, is her love for God. She is very willing to suffer for the Lord and she is very strict on things that she should not do on the sabbath. She sometimes gets in trouble by her father but she is very firm. She says that her father's frown is way easier to bare then her heavenly father's glare. Overall, she is a very obedient girl but she always obeys her heavenly father over her earthly father.

What is the book about?
Who are the main characters in the book?
The main characters are Elsie Dinsmore and her father, Horace Dinsmore. Elsie is almost always obedient. She thinks that she is much worse then she actually is because her father is very strict. She is also very pretty, but Enna, her aunt who is younger then her, believes that Elsie is too childish. Enna thinks that Elsie is a crybaby because Elsie cries a lot. She is also very timid and sensitive. Her father is very handsome and married at a young age. He is strict with little Elsie and punishes her for every little bad thing she does. He also doesn't let her to eat certain foods.
What is your favorite part of the book?
My favorite part of the book is when Horace Dinsmore starts loving his daughter, Elsie. I like it because Elsie gets very happy when that happens and she is so sweet. I also like it because her father isn't angry at her all the time now.
Is there a reason you would not recommend this book to males?
ReplyDeleteMales might like it, but the main character is a girl, so girls would be more inclined to like it.
