The Tech Girl (Chapter 2)

By now, you likely have read "The Silent Girl" and "That Math Girl", but if not you should definitely read them. With that being said, let's get started.

Slowly, people and food started to arrive. Finally, everyone and everything was here. Ye Ye prayed and we dug into our meal. It was quite a feast. Nai Nai and the moms had made zucchini Gao. It was a very good alternative to the normal luo bo gao when we had too much zucchini. Clara and Isabella had brought the milk pail. Isabella had picked some grapes. Finally, I had made the scrambled eggs. While the females were doing all that, the males were taking car of the garden and animals. Everyone ate hungrily and quickly.

Soon, we had finished breakfast. Nai Nai and the moms would clean up the dishes, so all I had to do was get my school stuff ready. All my school supplies were already in my backpack, so I added my Mac, iPhone, and AirPods. (They had been outside charging.) I wasn't allowed to listen during breakfast, so I just listened before and after. After my backpack was in order, I used the restroom and went outside to our bus stop. As usual, I was one of the first ones there. I looked at my watch and saw that it was 7:54 AM. That left about 6 minutes for everyone to arrive.

About five minutes later, everyone but Hayden had arrived. Just as the bus was coming into sight, Hayden had just arrived. As we got on the bus, Hayden needed to use the restroom. Oh no, Hayden always needs to use the restroom at the wrong moments. Hayden slowly ran into our house to use the restroom. After he went inside, I pulled my iPhone out of my backpack and used Google Maps to see how long it would take to get to school. Google Maps said that it would take about 45 minutes. Oh no! That meant that if we left right now, we would only have 15 minutes before school started. Who knows how long he would take to go to the bathroom.

One time, I secretly timed him and discovered that he took 1 hour 37 minutes and 34 seconds. That was a very long time!!! Hopefully, this time would be shorter, since I wouldn't want to be late on my first day of high school. Ten minutes 41 seconds later, Hayden arrived. That meant that we might only have five minutes to get to class. Ming seemed to sense this, so she drove extra quickly. As we drove through the country, I listened to podcasts and kept an eye on Google Maps to see when we would arrive.

With Ming's super fast driving we arrived at school at 8:49 AM. That left me only 11 minutes to do all the stuff I needed to do. I first dropped off the lunch cooler bag at the high school cafeteria. It was called the high school cafeteria, but everyone ate there. I reached the kitchen and set the bad down. By the time I left the kitchen, I had only seven minutes left.

I made a quick dash for the locker room. When I arrived at the locker room, I had only three minutes left. (The locker room was almost on the other side of the high school, so it too a long time.) I quickly changed, locked up my stuff, and headed outside. I got into my place just before the bell rang. That was very close, but I had made it and that was all that mattered now. All of the high schoolers had voted and decided to have PE in the morning as the first class of the day. That way, we would be able to exercise in the cool of the morning before it got too hot. Also, it would mean that we would get something fun and easy to start our day. Today, we did some exercises and games. PE was mostly graded based on how hard you tried.

Soon, we headed back into the locker rooms, changed and the bell rang. That meant that it was time for period two. For me that was science.

Come back later for more of "The Tech Girl". Meanwhile, check out the rest of the Mei Makes blog. Plus also check out the rest of the Silent Girl Trilogy.
