Jumping Rope
Introduction:
Fitness is very good for you, so today, I'm going to explain what jumping rope is, what jumping rope is testing, how to jump rope, and a few different ways of jumping rope. Plus, a few jump rope games as a bonus. I hope you enjoy this little jumping rope tutorial thing!
Definition:
What is a jump rope? A jump rope is a rope that people us to go around them selves and then jump. Then they repeat it for as long as they can. That's the most common way, but people sometimes jump rope backwards, stand on one foot the whole time, jump side to side, twist the rope before you jump, and many other ways. Some people do it for fun, but most people jump rope to get their exercising done, since exercising is so important. Children also play games with one or two jump ropes.
Testing:
What is a jump rope testing? A jump rope is testing your upper and bottom muscles. Then, your muscles will grow stronger and bigger. If you do other sports like wrestling, you are more likely to win. If you do football, you will more likely to get the football. If you do both of these activities and you jump rope, you'll be doing even better.
How:
How to jump rope?
- First take your jump rope, and hold the ends with your hands.
- Next, make sure the rope is behind you.
- Twist your hands, so the rope will go over your head and down.
- Jump and then repeat. If you do it faster, it may work better. Done! You can now jump rope whenever you want with these simple instructions.
Other ways,
Have you mastered the way above? Well, now you can try harder ways. I'm going to show you 3 harder ways of jump roping. Make sure to have your jump rope ready and make sure you have already completed step 1 above.
First we'll do backwards. Throw the rope in front of you and twist your arms. Immediately, jump and then twist it over you. Basically the same thing, but you're doing it backwards. Next, there's side to side. Do steps 2 and 3. When you jump, do it far apart. The next time you jump, have them close together. Repeat this and do it faster this time. Finally, we can do front to back. Do steps 2 and 3. When you first jump, go forwards. The next jump go backwards. Repeat.
Games:
Do you want to play some games? You're in luck. I've got a few games that use a jump rope. You may have played these games during recess at school when you were a child. Or maybe, you are a child. If you're a child or not, get some friends together to play 3 fun jump rope games!
I don't know the names of the games we are playing, so you can make up your own name or can guess by my descriptions. If you know the name or you just made one up, comment the name below. The game descriptions are below.
For this game, you need at least 3 people and two jump ropes or one long one. (Do not do step one if you already have a long jump rope.)
- Tie your two jump ropes together.
- One person holds each side. Holding the rope as high as they can.
- The remaining people try to get to the other side.
- The two people holding the rope hold it a little lower. The two people holding the jump rope can be switched around to make it more fair if you'd like.
- Repeat this until no one can go under.
For this second game, you need at least 2 people, but it would be better to have more.
- Take your long rope and fold it in half.
- Hold the two ends together.
- Have one person spin around slowly, while holding it. Make sure the rope is pretty near the floor.
- Everybody else will loosely crowd around the person holding the rope.
- While the first person spinning around, everybody else will try to jump around the rope when it goes by.
- If it hits you, you're out. The last person out wins.
For the last game, you nee at least 3 people, but as always, it's better with more people.
- One person takes one side of your long rope. (If you don't have a long rope, do step 1 for the first game.)
- Both people will twist it around at the same time. Make sure there's enough room for people to get through.
- People can now try to get to the other side. The hard thing is that the rope is twisting around.
- Then try to get back.
