Book Review: Little Women
What is your overall impression of the book?
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I think that this book was very good. It was enjoyable and fun to read, but it very long. This causes the book to take a long time to read. That can be a good thing if you want to be entertained for hours, but not if you are short on time.

What is the book about?
The book is about four girls, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, and
their lives. They meet a "Laurence Boy" and get along quite well. They have
many ups and downs, but overall they live happy lives. They are typical
girls with a mother at home and a father at war. They are constantly worried
that their father will get injured or killed. They have to try to continue
living their lives and help their mother, but they sometimes struggle.
Who characters are in the book?
The main characters are Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy.
They are sometimes called the March sisters. Each sister is different in her
own way. Meg strives to be a perfect and proper young lady. She always wants
to look her best and put her best foot forward. Jo is the tomboy of the
family. When her father was at war, she was the "man" of the family. She loves
to run and play along with Laurie, despite the fact that she knows it isn't
ladylike to do so. She also has a very bad temper. Beth is timid and shy. She
loves playing the piano and always does all her chores. She is the regular one
of the family. Amy is the youngest of the family. She really loves to draw and
is quite good at it. She dreams of becoming a famous artist. Laurie is Jo's
boy, since they are always playing together. He is very mischievous, like
brothers often are, so he is constantly playing pranks on people. Mrs. March
is the girl's mother. She constantly worries that her girls will not turn out
well. She is always there for any of the girls that need help. Mr. March is in
the Army. He starts the book away at war, so the family is very worried that
he will not return safely. Mr. Laurence is a kind old man. He is Laurie's
grandfather. He is very generous with his money.
What is your favorite part of the book?
I liked it when Laurie said that there was a
really good piano player that didn't even know she was good. Then, Beth said
that she would really like to learn from the piano player, but it turned that
she was the really good piano player.
What is your favorite character?
My favorite is Beth, since I don't like
washing the dishes just like her. In addition, many of the funny parts involve
her.
Who would you recommend/not recommend this book to?
I would recommend this book to girls that want
to read about life long ago. The characters live in a world without modern
conveniences. I would recommend it to people that really want a book with a
lot of imagery and imagination, so that they can build a really good mental
picture of what is happening. I wouldn't recommend this book to people that
are looking for a short book to read, as it takes a long time to read.
