Ella Enchanted

What is your overall impression of the book?

Ella Enchanted (Ella Enchanted #1)Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I liked how Ella Enchanted is a fractured fairy tale that is based off of Cinderella. Most people have read Cinderella or are familiar with the story, so the book is very relatable. However, the book has many twists that help to make the book surprising. These surprises ensure that you don't get bored, while you are still reading a story that you have heard many times.

What is the book about?

The book is about a girl named Ella who is cursed by a fairy named Lucinda. She wants to break the curse, but she can't and Lucinda is the only fairy stupid enough to do big magic. She is in danger at every moment.

Who are the main characters in the book?

There is only one main character. Her names is Ella. Ella is a girl who is cursed by a fairy. Her mother died at the beginning of the book, so she really struggles with what to do. She doesn't know if she can keep living with the curse in effect.

What is your favorite part of the book?

My favorite part was when Ella comes out of the curtain and Lucinda gasps, since it is funny when she gasps, since she didn't expect that. She asks why the other fairy brought an intruder to see her. Then she realizes that maybe Ella has received one of her "gifts". If your wondering, my favorite part is on page 194-195.

What is your favorite character?

My favorite character is Ella because she is the main character. She has a knack for languages. She could copy the bird that spoke Gnomic but Char (Prince Charmont) couldn't and gave up. She tries to not follow an order but it is very hard even for a few minutes. She turns red, gets a buzzing in her ear, and the floor tilts so much that she fears that she will fall off her bed.

Who would you recommend/not recommend this book to?

I would recommend this book to people who like fairy tales and fantasy. I wouldn't recommend this book to people who like reality and nonfiction. The book is for ages eight and up but I think it is okay to start reading this book before you are eight.
