*Disclaimer*: This is a work of fiction. Some events may be based on real life, but some events are made up.

Ava suddenly burst into the room, which startled us all. We all turned in her direction. What she said next made us sigh in relief. It turned out that all the adults except our great uncle and aunt believed us. It was probably because Ava had told them about the sticky thing falling on my head. Everyone went out to meet them.

"All the girls are lying." Austin exclaimed. Malachi and Hayden joined in in teasing us. Then the boys joined in in a chorus of ,"Liar, liar, pants on fire." ”Boys, you know better”, said my mom. “Humph. Well, the girls are actually lying.” Austin retorted. “Yeah, Austin’s right,” Hayden and Malachi agreed.

“Sorry, Harry, my grandchildren are having a hard time settling into their new life, they are usually much more well behaved,” apologized Ye Ye. Ye Ye silently muttered to himself, “at least the boys didn’t say the word “baby”.”

I heard this because I was right next to him. We were dismissed, the boys and girls went into separate rooms. We all went to me and Clara’s room.

Ava, Clara, and I all crowded near the door to try to hear the conversation the grownups were having. We didn’t hear much, just little peeks of the conversation, like, “I’m so sorry,” and then like, “No, it’s alright, they're just settling in,” and stuff like that.

Finally the parents went to check on us. We quickly pretended we were talking about having a sleepover on the bed. When the moms came in, we turned to them and asked, ”Can we have a sleepover here?” “That’s a good idea. It will also help you settle into your new area.” both moms said. When the mom left to check on the boys, Clara sighed in relief and said “That was close.” “Yeah, it was pretty close, but it’s kind of good that they came because now we can have a sleepover!” I wrote. We got some more blankets and a mattress for Ava. Ava left to get some things for her room, because we planned to have a week-long sleepover.

We also got some snacks from Ling Ling (Our great uncle’s wife). We chose Ava to go, so she could slip her phone next to the adults and call Clara. Meanwhile, Clara and I were in our room. Clara answered the call and then said hello just to make sure it worked. Ava said hello back and Clara muted herself. That way, if we made sounds, the adults wouldn’t hear us. Just then, Ava came back with snacks. “Here are some gummy bears. Ling Ling thought that we would like to eat them. She also gave us slices of an apple called Fuji apples. According to her, Fuji apples are very common in Japan,” Ava said, closing the door behind her. I drew a picture of apples, and then gummy bears below that. It meant that I wanted to eat the apples first, and the gummy bears after that. I showed this to Clara, who then told Ava. “Yeah. I’m super hungry. I wouldn’t mind eating some snacks too.” Clara said. Her tummy then grumbled which made everybody laugh.

We started listening to the phone call, while eating apples. We heard Ye Ye once again apologizing about us taking the gummy bears and apples. (Ye Ye is always apologizing about everything,, even to us. It is very funny when Ye Ye apologies to me about me not being on my best behavior.) I wondered when Ye Ye was going to apologize again and I guessed it was probably not going to take long.
